COVID-19: 397 new cases, 2 deaths in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 29 : Telangana recorded 397 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total of positives to over 2.85 lakh, while two deaths brought the toll to 1,535.

Actor Ram Charan was among those who tested positive for the virus.

He asked people who have been around him in recent days to get tested.

“I tested positive for COVID-19. No symptoms and quarantined at home. I hope to heal soon and come out stronger,” he tweeted.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the highest number of cases with 92, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy with 37 and 28 respectively, a government bulletin providing details on Tuesday said at 8 p.m. Dec. 28.

The total number of recoveries amounted to 2 77,931.

No less than 5,999 patients are under treatment and 42,737 samples were tested on Sunday.

Cumulatively, more than 67.93 lakh samples were tested.

The samples tested per million inhabitants exceeded 1.82 lakh, according to the bulletin.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.53%, compared to 1.4% nationally.

The collection rate in Telangana was 97.36 percent, while it was 95.9 percent in the country.
