India triumph in Kabaddi World Cup, maintain dominance
India on Saturday triumphed in the World Kabaddi Cup 2016 for the third time in a row as they staged a remarkable response to overcome a 38-29 Iran hard in the title clash, maintaining their dominance in sport.
It was the third title triumph of India on the trot in a game they dominated for long.Moreover, Iran has tasted defeat to India in the last two finals of the World Cup and the Asian Games.
Ajay Thakur was the star of the final, claiming 12 points.
Iran has fought bravely and took the lead going into the first half break at 18-13, but Thakur changed complexion in the second half and was helped by some resolute defense of the hosts.
Coach Balwan Singh dedicates World Cup win Kabaddi Uri martyrs
Indian kabaddi team head coach Balwan Singh Saturday dedicated the World Cup victory of his team to the soldiers of the Indian Army who were martyred in the terrorist attack last month in Uri town of Jammu and Kashmir.
We dedicate this victory to our brave soldiers who gave their lives in the terrorist attack in Uri town of Jammu and Kashmir, ” said Balwan singh reporters after the final. We had planned before the game that we’re going to give something to the nation.
In recent years, Indian winning medals at international level have received a lot of financial rewards as well as government price. But Balwan claimed that victory for the nation that counts most for him and his players.
“We do not play to get government money. Get the honors is a secondary thing. We play for the nation. The love and support that people give us is the greatest honor. Playing for the nation is a reward in itself, “he added.
