Rupee breaks again 68-mark, hangars 24 paise
The rupee broke again below the 68-mark by depreciating 24 paise to trade at 68.20 against the dollar in the beginning of trade at the interbank Foreign Exchange, due to increased demand for the US unit with importers and banks.
Moreover, the outflow of capital supported and the strength of the dollar against some other overseas currencies also weighed on the local unit but a stronger opening to the domestic stock market limited the fall of the rupee, dealers Forex said.
The rupee had firmly closed at 67.96 against the US dollar on Friday amid the resumption of sales in domestic equity in the context of sustained capital outflows.
At the same time, the BSE Sensex benchmark recovered by 23.86 points, or 0.09 per cent, to 26,783.09 at the beginning of trade.
