Sensex exceeds 71 points on weak Asian indices
Mumbai, January 23 : The Sensex benchmark has dropped by around 71 points to slide below the key of 27,000 in the opening trade today, on the outflow of foreign funds sustained amid weak Asian signals That investors are waiting for US President Donald Trump’s economic plan details.
The 30 share index was 70.92 points, down 0.26%, to 26 963.58 in the first exchanges, with sectoral indices led by informatics, healthcare, banks and Capital goods, trading in the negative area, down 0.78%.
The gauge had lost 274.10 points in the previous session on Friday.
The Nifty National Stock Exchange also fell by 22.15 points, or 0.26 percent, to 8,327.20.
Kitty Sensex laggards included ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, L & T, Hindustan Unilever, Lupine and Asian Paints.
Among other Asian markets, the Hang Seng of Hong Kong fell by 0.03% and the Nikkei of Japan fell 1.06% in the first contracts. The Shanghai Composite Index also fell by 0.47%.
The Dow Jones US Industrial Average had finished 0.48 percent higher in Friday trading.
